For the business

Commercial Electrical

Hole-in-the-walls to shopping malls: restaurant and office renovations, dedicated circuits, pole and signage lighting.

Chapter 01

From the hole-in-the-wall to the shopping mall

Thunder Electric describes its commercial work as serving hole-in-the-walls to shopping malls, and it means the whole range. As a company rooted in the Yakima Valley, it's committed to supporting local businesses: established companies with a building to keep running, and new businesses getting their first space wired in Yakima, Zillah and Selah.

The work runs from new construction to restaurant and office renovations. Beyond those three towns, the shop at 704 River Rd also covers Union Gap, Naches, Wapato, Toppenish, Sunnyside, Grandview, Ellensburg and Cle Elum.

When a shop or an office is down, the clock matters. Sheryl wrote that Thunder “had someone out the same morning.” The office is open Monday through Friday, 8 to 5, and the 24/7 emergency line at (509) 575-8362 directs you to the on-call tech when something fails after hours.

What they install and repair, and the meter bank in the photo

The published list for commercial jobs is interior and exterior lighting, pole and signage lighting, and dedicated circuits. That covers the space inside and the pole and signage lighting outside it. The new construction and lighting pages go deeper on full buildings and fixtures.

The photo on this page is one of their own commercial jobs: a multi-meter service bank on a grey building wall, new EMT conduit runs, a tech crouched down at the gear.

Estimates are free for qualifying scope and upon request, with new construction, remodels and new circuits on the list, and bigger estimates ask for a 50% deposit by the scheduled date. Commercial time is $140 per hour per tech ($210 overtime). Every call has a one hour minimum, and anything past the first hour is billed in half-hour intervals. Invoices come by mail and email, usually within 1-2 weeks after the work is finished, and nobody charges you on site. Card payments carry a 3% processing fee; check or cash works too.

Chapter 03

LED upgrades, and the small-business lighting incentives

Thunder suggests LED lighting upgrades to reduce energy expenses.

Their services page prints two incentive lines: very small business LED lighting incentives, and a small business LED lighting incentive. The price printed beside them is “Potentially free! Plus sales tax.” Eligibility decides it, so ask the office at (509) 575-8362 whether your business qualifies.

With advancements in technology, Thunder says it can help you optimize a workspace for efficiency and cost savings. Cam Clark's review is the small version of that: “T.j. was here within 30 minutes. And changed out our florescent bulbs and did a great, quick and efficient job. Bing bang boom. New LED lighting.”
